Deep thought
Apparently California uses more gas and oil than China.This makes sense.
When I picture a scene in China, I picture lots of people on bicycles. Don't you?

Either the bicycle thing or, sometimes, I envision the country is shoulder-to-shoulder crowded, where everyone must move together en masse. Its an extreme, sure, yet after hearing how they live, and are running out of room, my creative mind just wanders to that end of the spectrum....
And anyway, I've heard California is lacking in driving discipline and road maintenance.
Would be curious to learn about New York City versus Tokyo.
