Drop-dead date
Today is the final day of my contract with T-Mobile.Just sayin'.

Other than wanting the iPhone/AT&T 2 year contract for $60/mo, what did you hate about TMobile (I realized I literally just ducked my head as I asked that)?
T-Mobile was actually a good company. I don't think I got any bad customer service from them. On vacations to other parts of the US, like last year when I went to NYC, they waived the roaming charges for me on my request, for example. Their coverage in Portland is good, at least for me.
I did a search of my blog and found one instance where T-Mobile's entire network was down. Lasted about a half a day.
Come to think of it, my main problems with T-Mobile may have just been the phone: Motorola Razr V3. It would send some text messages twice (luckily I had unlimited texts from the very beginning), it would reboot randomly, and the interface kinda sucked. Don't buy a phone from the website, if you can; those are refurbished (i.e., used) phones.
I don't have any complaints with T-Mobile. They just don't have the iPhone.

I have nothing but accolades for the iPhone. I've had it since early October and it's been so incredibly useful (and cool, I admit) that I can't imagine ever going back to a normal cell phone.
The ONE THING that sort of sucks about it is from a runner's perspective-- it's too big to carry along. I keep my old phone around, which is smaller, and just swap SIM cards so I can carry it with me on my longer adventures. It's a pretty run-of-the-mill Nokia, but even using it on as limited a basis as I now do drives me crazy. The interface on the iPhone is brilliant. It's what smartphones should have been from the beginning.

I want one too - I've used an iPhone that my sister bought on iPhone day (which I blogged about, here: http://www.metroknow.com/2007/06/hey-psst-so-ive-got-this-iphone-guy.html ), and I was absolutely sold on it in every way (although I agree with Hollie on the running thing - but I bet that'll be fixed soon, knowing the folks at Apple). Just lacking the funds even at the better price.
Tip however: Don't drop it...the downside to the beautiful screen is if you drop it just right, the screen cracks into tiny, sharp shards of glass, and you are SOL. She dropped hers in a moment that horrified her almost as much as the moment when she found out what it would cost to have it repaired.
I've had the same experience with TMobile - in fact, they just added a new tower near my house so I actually have signal at home now (what a concept). Verizon, though way better signal over all, was TERRIBLE with customer service, hidden fees, and such when I had them a few years ago.
Thanks for the response - I'll have to continue to live technologically vicariously through the happy iPhone-ites for now. For Now.

Metroknow: I am so sorry to hear about the dropped iPhone. I can only imagine... I hope I only have to imagine it...
But Ars Technica did a fairly comprehensive set of stress testing of the iPhone when it first came out, and it struck me as pretty sturdy.

Oh yeah, totally true. To clarify, she had dropped it numerous times over the short history of its life with no ill consequences; In this instance she had taken it out of the case she bought to show someone its glory, unsheathed.
So for the record, she really did blame herself -- not the phone. So no worries at all - just don't drop it, um, a lot. [grin]
